Viking Ship Museum, Oslo

This museum is famous for the Oseberg ship, which dates back to the 9th-century, and was excavated from the largest known ship grave in the world.

It also has another two Viking era burial ships, Gokstad (9th-century) and Tune (10th-century), which were part of archaeological finds, discovered at the end of the 19th-century and the beginning of the 20th-century. The Viking Ship Museum is also part of the Museum of Cultural History of the University of Oslo, which houses small boats, sledges, tools, textiles and household utensils. Both museums are on the Bygdøy peninsula, a popular recreational area for locals and tourists.
